ANIMA International Webinar Series|EXPERIENCE SHARING - Entrepreneurship

9 December 2021 at 9h GMT+0

Africa is growing at around 5%, compared to 3.5% for the rest of the world, according to the IMF, and has many economic advantages - being the richest in raw materials (oil, minerals, agricultural products) and home to the youngest population. However, the continent is also undergoing rapid change and faces new challenges; while one billion people currently live on the continent, that is 1 in 7, by 2050 it will be 1 in 5; climate change will have a major impact on the region; the opening up of financial markets on the continent and the improvement of internet access through submarine cables are all changes that will impact on Africa's place in the world. In this context, entrepreneurship can play a major role in African growth and social transformation. While many barriers to entrepreneurship remain - lack of institutions and legal frameworks for entrepreneurship, rigidities in the economic and political landscapes, barriers to trade and difficulties in moving between African countries - many solutions are being developed - setting up "Start-ups Acts" (Tunisia, South Africa), multiplication and professionalisation of intermediaries likely to support African entrepreneurs (incubators, accelerators, business angels, investment funds), return of the diaspora and building bridges between global ecosystems,...

All of this will be discussed during the webinar on 9 December 2021, with speakers such as Hélène Guehennec from MAHNA (Burkina Faso) and David Cheboryot from E4impact
